Research Technician/Lab Manager
Join our exciting research team investigating the pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. My laboratory needs a research technician/lab manager. A) (50-60%): For the research work, the choice of projects will be decided based on your interests and the fit with existing project needs in the laboratory, but the lab has a strong focus on understanding the role of RNA modifications (e.g., m6A, 6-methyladenosine) in disease. We are doing lots of m6A RNAseq (DARTseq), developing biomarker assays and doing forward genetics to identify modifications with functional impact. Please visit our lab website to gain information on the range of projects: https://sites.bu.edu/wolozinlab/. More generally, our lab investigates the interaction between persistent stress, RNA metabolism and disease. We do this using a variety of approaches including the study of human brain samples, human 3D iPSC organoid cultures, genetically modified mouse models and cell lines. B) (40-50%): As lab manager you will oversee lab operations, which includes ordering, inventories and lab organization. Importantly, you will have an undergraduate work study student who will work with you and assist with the routine work (inventory, ordering, etc.). The applicant must be strongly motivated, able to work independently, possess a strong ability to organize data and have good interpersonal skills. The applicant must have a bachelor’s degree and prior laboratory experience. Compensation is dependent on experience. Email: bwolozin@bu.edu
