What You'll do:

Your HSBC journey will be built upon - and thrive with - your skills.

We know how important it is to have the right skills, both for your future and ours. By building this skillset now, we’ll help you develop the agility to keep learning new skills throughout your career.

Over the course of eight to ten weeks, you’ll get to:

  • Experience the uniquely collaborative culture that is key to the success of HSBC Global Research
  • Get involved in work across different asset classes
  • Help to produce the in-depth reports and trade ideas that we present to – and discuss with – our clients

At the end of the programme you could have the opportunity to continue on to our graduate programme.

Who you are:

We welcome students from all degree disciplines and backgrounds, not just those who’ve studied finance-related degrees, or those who have knowledge of banking.

It takes a broad range of skills to be successful at HSBC. We’re looking forward to seeing the mix of skills you’ve learned so far, and hearing about the unique perspective that you’ll bring to our teams. We’ll help you learn everything else.

To join us on this programme, you’ll need to be:

  • An enthusiastic problem-solver, who loves getting stuck into a challenge
  • A fast learner who thinks deep, works hard and welcomes constructive feedback
  • A creative thinker who enjoys collaborating with a diverse range of people
  • A focused individual with an enquiring mind and an eagle eye for detail

What you'll learn:

We’ll help you develop the technical skills most relevant to your role. We’ll also provide plenty of opportunities to advance your non-technical skills, like relationship management and collaboration, that will help you move your career forward successfully.

During your time on the programme, you’ll:

  • Enjoy unparalleled access to senior management within companies and policymakers
  • Learn how to analyse in an objective and methodical way, and how to present your findings and views concisely and clearly to clients
  • Have plenty of other opportunities to develop your behavioural, cognitive and technical skills, plus people to support you along the way, ensuring you are well prepared for the future
