The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Alsip, Illinois is accepting applications to the position of Firefighter/Paramedic with the Alsip Fire Department.

Applicants Must Meet the Following Minimum Requirements established by the Village of Alsip:

At least 20 years of age -and- must not have attained their 35th Birthday by the application deadline date (June 16, 2025);
Be a U.S. Citizen/ and or legal permanent resident of the United States.
No felony convictions;
Possess a valid driver's license;
Have a High school Diploma or GED equivalent;
Must be either an Illinois certified Paramedic (EMT-P) -OR- a Nationally Registry Paramedic (NREMT) (If applying from outside of the State of Illinois) -OR- an EMT-B currently enrolled in a paramedic program (proof of enrollment required). Must be a certified paramedic at time of hire;
Possess an OSFM Certificate Firefighter II -OR- Basic Operations Firefighter Certificate -OR- have a certificate of completion from the Basic Operations Firefighter from the Illinois Fire Service Institute, or the Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy, or the Romeoville Fire Academy, or from a Illinois Community College that offers a Basic Operations Firefighter program, -OR- equivalent of NFPA Firefighter I (out of state applicants) (at time of application);
Provide a valid CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test Card) with Ladder Climb Certification issued with 12 months of the application deadline date (March 7, 2025);
Be able to speak, read, and write the English language fluently;
Must successfully meet all such other requirements as set forth by the Illinois Compiled Statutes and the Alsip Fire and Police Commission Rules and Regulations, such as: attend a mandatory orientation meeting, successfully pass a written examination, oral interview, polygraph test, background investigation, and pass a medical examination and drug test screening by a physician designated by the Village of Alsip;
All firefighters shall reside within the State of Illinois within six (6) months of completion of their probation;
Pay a $10.00 non-refundable application processing fee;
Applications must be submitted by Friday, June 16, 2025 at 4:00 PM.
Complete a mandatory on-line written exam at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 and end on June 27th. 

Preference points will be awarded by the Village of Alsip for any one of the following categories:

Military experience
Fire Service experience
Education
Residency in the Village of Alsip
